Bienvenido a Miami...

Have you ever caught a flight after a 12 hour binge? Well my advice is definitely don’t its truly awful… let me paint you a picture.

We decided to leave our hotel at 5pm on Saturday evening and go for drinks just south of Harlem based of a Google search for “top 10 student bars in New York”. After having a couple in various establishments a couple of Indian chaps said we really needed to be at Bleaker and McDougal, they were right. Bleaker and McDougal had a eclectic mix of comedy clubs, beer pong competitions and sports bars showing football (I really hope Rayne Wooney is alright :S… jokes). One place in particular is still heavily engrained onto the inside of my nostrils as it had the disgusting yet intriguing smell of a bile rich sick and generic sherbet.

After Jack offended an entire Hen do we headed to the glamorously entitled “Meat Packing” area which was much of the same and that’s where we stayed until 5am.

Key highlights of the night include:

Jack makes friends with a fellow polish

Tristan and Jack experience different emotions

Jack specifically orders “chips” from a Mexican food cart… and gets this

Anyway slight mental detour there, as I was saying we have been on this flight and I was hanging out of my arse, like right out, but we have landed safely with some turbulence due to the storm but alright overall. As a side point, why do Americans clap when the plane lands, its one of those things that some needs to stop, I felt embarrassed as human to be near such gay activity.

Anyway, we landed, but I think we must have been the only plane that did because the airport was like a Roosters during Ramadad and we were greeted with this hilarious display, 555 flights in and out of Miami cancelled.

Got to our hotel and some funny bugger had stuck fag packet sized sticky bar codes to BOTH our backs, I don’t know when it happened, why we were targeted or who did but fair play to you sir!

So we are in Miami, sorry to go round the house explaining that that is where we are but we are here. Now as an experiment please watch some of the video below:

See it is exactly the same

The City That Never Sleeps...

Good afternoon,

Right so we made it to New York, the flight was fairly uneventful except Jack watched a documentary about chimps whilst listening to something else on his iPod and the bloke next to me had Beatz earphones AND beatz headphones - just seemed a bit unnecessary, also when I asked to borrow his pen to fill in some stupid US Customs questionnaire he just made a noise and passed it to me, don’t people speak anymore?

Customs is quite the exercise also, you should be able to flash a British passport and they say “oh sorry for the wait, come right through” but they don’t. Instead they ask 15 billion questions about what you’re doing here and what you’re doing next, it was the longest conversation I’ve seen Jack involved with.

We got to our hotel (which is terrible) at around 10:30pm and went out by 11. Made friends with a "Hustler" called "Africa" and he advised the 1st and 1st area for late drinks so we went there. After a few beers we asked the bar woman where was good to go at that sort of time, her response was “I don’t know, I don’t really go out after I work” This seemed odd to not even have one bar name to mention so it obviously was challenged but she was adamant… later on we saw her in another bar! Cow.

We got talking to some English lads who were in the RAF and are also going to be in Koh Phangan for NYE, more interesting was that after a few a hours of inquiries it turns out that they were just air traffic controllers.

Anyway we drank until about 5am (although as we hadn’t slept it was actually 10am with the time difference) and we went to a Duane Reade to get crucial supplies - water and Cheetos Crunchies which are basically nicnacs, I only caught this one picture from the night, its incredibly boring but here it is anyway.

Due to the lateness of the excursion it meant that basically jetlagged ourselves so yesterday, nothing really happened, but now fresh for tonight.

Tomorrow its off to Miami, oh beaches and nice weather? NOPE – tropical storm which is likely to be a hurricane!

We may not survive the trip but at least we will experience a hurricane and can say “F U Michael Fish, this is a real hurricane!”

Ill post again on the other side x
